This is a very real, tangible way to help in a situation where you find someone who is in need and you really feel like you want to do something but are unsure of exactly what to do. Handing out a Blessing Bag to someone gives you a very real way to meet their immediate needs by providing them with some basic supplies such as toiletries, water, food and warmth.
Blessing Bags are great to keep on hand in your car, so if you are in a situation where you find someone in need, you have the bag right there to hand to them right away. This is a way to demonstrate to your kids the act of giving in the face of a need instead of just driving by or walking away without responding.
Tents provide temporary shelter that helps protect a homeless person from the harsh weather conditions while they are transitioned between overnight shelters and permanent housing.
If you have a tent that you no longer need, please consider contacting us that we may get it to the hands of someone who could use it.
Socks are the most needed, but least donated items in shelters. New and used socks are appreciated. Dark colors are preferred.
Your group, or organization might want to conduct a sock drive… It is a fun activity and a great way to both raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and the problems they have from not having new socks. Sock drives can be held in your school, church, workplace, favorite store…or anyplace.
Winter time is a hard time for the homeless because of the prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures. One pair of durable gloves goes a long way.
If you have gloves or hand warmers to donate, please contact us or any of the local organizations.
If you would like to hold a food drive, or donate for meals please contact us or deliver them to the Christ’s Table.
Sleeping bags mean more than you might think to a homeless person. If you have a sleeping bag that isn’t being used please consider donating it and making someone’s day!
